Before you begin

*PLEASE NOTE THAT AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE THERE IS A VERY IMPORTANT FORM THAT YOU MUST FILL OUT*

Congratulations on starting your refereeing journey, who knows where it’ll take you?  This course has been specially designed by experts at the FAW to increase your knowledge and confidence when officiating at junior level.

A recent piece of research showed that the vast majority of people who referee at junior level have never had any type of official  training, despite taking games every weekend, we hope this course will put that right!

The course itself is split into 3 sections (lessons), and then within each section you’l find a number of topics to complete (apart from in this Section which is simply this page and form).

Navigating the course is straight forward. When you click on a topic a presentation will automatically launch, within the presentation you simple click ‘Next’ once you’ve read everything or watched the video on that page. When you’re completing a quiz you’ll need to click on the ‘Submit’ butting to go to the next page.

You need to click on the ‘Mark Complete’ button once you have finished each topic – this button will only become clickable once you have gone through the whole presentation. To get to the next lesson/topic just click on the ‘Next lesson’ button at the bottom of the page (this will only be available once the page is marked as complete).

You can also utilise the ‘live chat’ option if you do have any issues as you’re going along the course – an advisor should be available between 07:00 – 20:00 every day. Simply click on the green speech icon to the right, you also may find answers to your queries on the FAQ page.

Before you start the course please fill in the form below. It’ll tell the FAW which club you’re linked to which is important for accreditation reasons. It’ll also inform you who you should contact to start the DBS process, which is key to officiating at junior level. If you have received a DBS from the FAW, and it is still valid, then you will not need to apply for a new one.
