Following a number of meetings at SWFA and FAW level, the following changes to promotion and fitness testing at SWFA level have been agreed; (These changes have no impact on National FAW fitness testing)
- Following the curtailment of the current 2020/21 season, registered referees wishing to be considered for promotion within the SWFA must now pass a pre-season fitness test. For those applying for promotion during the 2021/22 season, the pre-season fitness test will take place on Sunday June 27th 11am-1pm (full details will be emailed following completion of the form below ). Depending on numbers there may be 2 sessions, 11-1pm and 1-3pm.
- Those who are unsuccessful in passing the pre-season test will be given a second opportunity. For the 2021/22 season that re-test will take place on Sunday September 19th 11am-1pm. The re-tests will always have at least a 6 week gap from the first.
- Referees will not receive any formal observations until they have successfully passed a fitness test.
- Referees who have applied for promotion, but who are unsuccessful in both tests will be offered the opportunity to receive some ‘coaching observations’ in that season.
Should you wish to be considered for promotion during the 2021/22 season, you must complete the following form https://forms.gle/dm7i6Ug45aR5Q1im7
Should you require any support to access the form, please email myself on [email protected] or call me on 07944629408.
Promotion will only be considered for registered referees who have successfully completed a pre-season fitness test and have met the required standard in formal assessments across the season.
LEGACY Tests 2019/20 season.
Those referees who gained the required marks in assessments during the 2019/20 season will need to complete the above test to complete their legacy promotion. Those referees will be contacted directly and will not need to complete the above form. This will not include those grade 3 referees who have been nominated for tier 2 and will undertake the FAW fitness test.
SWFA Fitness Tests.
Referees will complete the FIFA Repeated sprint ability test (6x40m sprint inside ,under 7seconds each), and the FIFA High Intensity Interval test [32x75m run(17sec) + 32x25m Walk (22sec)].
